We hear a lot about the threat that artificial intelligence poses.
You’ll remember the world’s greatest tech brains – and our Prime Minister – met at Bletchley Park recently to discuss this very subject.
Whether it achieved anything positive remains an Enigma…
A gold star to anyone who cracked the code that allowed access to that joke.
In Hollywood, at the time of writing, members of the Screen Actors Guild are striking because they fear a future when A.I. might replace them.
Impossible?
Watch Peter Jackson’s video for ‘the last’ Beatles song “Now And Then” which seamlessly joins new footage of Ringo and Paul with old footage of them with George and John. A.I. helped to create it.
Hollywood screen writers are worried that scripts could be generated by artificial intelligence in the future.
News just in! I think A.I. has already infiltrated British TV.
How else do you explain the endless ‘psychological thrillers’ and ‘police procedural’ dramas, each indistinguishable from another, that litter the TV schedules?
Exceptions include adaptations of Agatha Christie’s work. Because nobody messes with the Queen Of Crime!
IMHO, many TV crime series are so limp and uninvolving, the biggest mystery about them is why they were commissioned.
How often have you watched an alleged ‘thriller’ series, full of ex-soap stars still learning to act, only to be disappointed by a ludicrously implausible finale that makes you regret you stuck with it?
Perhaps we’ve been spoiled by the occasional truly great drama like “Happy Valley” and “Line Of Duty” that gripped us from the first to the last episode. Quality-wise, only the recent ITV series “The Long Shadow” has come close.
Our broadcasters produce formulaic shows featuring ‘fish out of water’ cops struggling in their new environment; angst-ridden cops wrestling with demons from their past; maverick cops on the verge of retirement, anxious to solve one more case, but hindered by their incompetent superiors…we’ve seen them all before, time and time again.
So, if you’re thinking about submitting an idea for a crime series to a TV company, you’d best not confirm ‘I Am Not A Robot’ on the application form, or it’ll never be accepted!
