Random Acts of Kindness

Call me old fashioned, but I have a soft spot for good old-fashioned manners.
You know, the kind that involves saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ It’s amazing how such simple words can make a world of difference and show appreciation for acts of kindness.
But it seems like these manners are becoming a rarity these days.
Just last week, I witnessed a heartwarming scene in a busy Llanelli shop. A young boy, probably no taller than a stack of books, held the door open for a middle-aged lady. Can you guess what happened next?
She completely ignored his chivalrous act!
Now, let’s give credit where credit is due.
This young lad didn’t let it dampen his spirits. He just shrugged it off and went about his day with a laid-back attitude.
I have to say, not many of us could have reacted so calmly in that situation.
Now, I get it. If this happened in a bustling city like London, where everyone is always in a hurry, it wouldn’t be such a shock. But here we are in Llanelli, where the pace is a bit more relaxed, and yet, we’re still letting these acts of kindness slip by unnoticed.
Are we all so caught up in our own little worlds that we’ve forgotten how to appreciate politeness and courtesy?
We all have the power to change this.
Let’s make an effort to acknowledge and appreciate the kindness of our fellow human beings.
It shouldn’t take much, just a simple smile or a thank you.
It’s time to make small acts of kindness a regular part of our lives, a habit that we can all work on. Trust me, it’ll make the world a brighter and warmer place to live in.
